Worship

The Day the Earth was quiet
I heard it still
Shrill cries of silence
The silence not silence within
All around all around me the quiet dawn
But inside screaming,
Crying for more to be done.

I can't help but thinking
If only you knew
The depths I've gone to
And would continue to do
The fight I have fought
And the battles I've known
Dragged my heart
Kicking and screaming into this
fray of none

This love, this light
This darkness

you have sown in me

Does not depart tenderly
It fights for recognition
To be seen and delighted in
Above all to be worshipped

And that's where I fall.
For I am a divine creature
And must worship only
That which holds all
in great tenderness and strife
That only before
I will fall.
