Almost August

It’s almost August and I’ll almost be forty five. Its light now - clear light at 7:30am. And I’m feeling the desire to prepare for Spring. In this garden - thats not a small thing. In this garden it demands all of August to prepare. And prepare I will - with my trusty garden helper we will plan over coffee just how it will go - the compost ordered - the seeds flowing from catalogue to letterbox.

This sort of thing I’ve notice others froth over is now in my domain. A whole world of food and flowers - grappling with soil nematodes and compost - oh compost when will I learn to love thee!?

All of this journey is such a slow figuring out for my reluctant gardener - a seeping in of the will and the understanding to make me want to get out in the garden and do the do without feeling I should. It’s a mammoth change and one that beauty and wonder have inspired - the best and most potent motivators. From my trek up the hill to the ridge to the the early morning watering of this more domestic wild - it’s getting inside me - and it shows.
