Red Bridge Cafe
Along the hot and dirty country road we rode - heads to the wind - bikes not suited for this sort of riding. We, flat landers - just like those who deny the intricacies of life and death - how we cannot have our heads in the sand when all of the natural world is crying out, dying out to have us hear and take heed - hear and take heed. He who has ears to hear - listen! What do you hear beyond the incessant noise of your phones, the papers, the flickering screens? Listen but for a moment and you will hear the pulse of earth - the beat of bees- the chirp and chirrup of the birds. All of creation is alive and as our life it begs of us this question: will you be alive with me? Will you hear the song of earth and join in as an earth- ling? We are doomed if we shut down our five senses - if we play the fool and keep our ears deaf to the cries of the anima - the elemental surge of life that wants us to be her - be in her - be with her. Save all else, we must wake up to the fact that when we listen only with our minds we are already dead - computer chips that are longing to already escape to another planet - take our destruction and brokenness elsewhere to inflict on another time and place. Now is the time, here is the location of our birthright - our lamp lights cold in the city - but - there glimmers hope in the hearts of the strong - like salmon swimming upstream we must become bold in our longing and belonging to this one earth we have - one life - one love. We must cleave to her - the Goddess - and make her proud of our massive consciousness that can destroy and bless. Bless you - those who weep - who inherit this earth - bless those who stand with their own brave hearts - who will not blithely stand by as a consumer, fearful, spectator. Bless those who live their lives on their own terms - live deeply in the place they are found - their one ground - this mounding of a lump of disaster - this covid world needs us all - this light and dark mass to form heavily in our bodies and beings and break, break open.
