Forget, don’t forget who you are

See how far - how far from the edge of things you really are - across the table I pass a glass to you - cut crystal - candling flickering - eyes shining - tears down faces - the coming together - to feast and be as one as we always were. Would you please light a fire in my hearth - and tend to it all night - vigil with me - for me? Would you go an extra mile with me - when your stop had already come - and gone - you - still on the bus with me - wondering how and where this ride ends - because it doesn't - it keeps on wandering - wondering - the heavy feeling in both our guts - tells us nothing, everything as we relax back in the rear seat - the whole place to ourselves - because we bought the world with our love - come over the bridge to never-never land and have found ourselves apart, now together. Would you long with me - as I do? Would you peel back the scales of my dragon suit seven times and brush me clean? Would you lay with me in marriage bed - saying older brothers marry first? I have no idea what I’m saying - and every idea - the two and the one - the understanding and the perfect ignorance. Blind faith maybe - I have been steeped in faith - know its eternal glances - take my chances with you - over and over again - forget me - don’t forget me - love me still - find me in the secret place where lions roar and roses grow red and blood pricked. A mistress running naked in the rose garden calling my name - is you dear - is your long overdue dropping of all defences and letting me drag my fingers tenderly through your fragile hair - Love in glory and in death - utmost for our highest
